Before you power on your Stay Fresh freeze dryer: a quick pump check
Hey FFG Members,
This is a special note for those of you who have purchased a Stay Fresh Freeze Dryer, or plan to do so in the future.
Before you plug in your new Stay Fresh freeze dryer, take two minutes for a quick check. We've now hit 11 Stay Fresh group buy orders, and the first machines are arriving.
Check the vacuum pump oil
Running the pump without oil can damage the machine, so don't skip this.
Your commercial pump should arrive with oil already inside. Before first use, remove the oil cap and use a clean stick or dipstick to confirm there is oil in the pump.
If you see oil, you are good to go.
If the pump is empty, do one of the following:
- Purchase a compatible vacuum pump oil yourself. Robinair or JB Black Gold are the recommended options and are available online or at most local hardware stores.
- Contact Stay Fresh directly and they will ship you the correct oil and amount.
Check for the instruction paper
The pump box should contain an instruction paper. Look carefully inside the packaging before you discard anything.
If your shipment did not include the instruction paper or manual, contact Stay Fresh and they will sort it out for you.

Live Q&A call coming this week
We are scheduling a live Q&A call with the Stay Fresh team for Thursday or Friday. This is your chance to ask questions about the machine, freeze-drying basics, maintenance, and anything else before the next buying window closes.
We will send the calendar invite as soon as the time is confirmed.
