Dr. Scottie's Health Advantage: Your Boron Deficiency - And Why Soil is the Real Solution

Dr. Scottie fielded a wave of questions this week about 20 Mule Team Borax — driven by an inquiry from a physician group — and used it as an entry point into a broader discussion of boron, a trace mineral he says is "grossly underutilized."

He walked through roughly 17 mechanisms he associates with boron, from hormone ratio effects and bone/cartilage support to kidney protection and detox pathways.

The more interesting thread, though, was about sourcing: even the standard food-based boron sources — prunes, raisins, avocados, nuts, peaches, apples, peanut butter — depend entirely on the soil they were grown in. Decades of non-rotational, single-crop farming can leave that soil depleted of the mineral, meaning a boron-rich diet on paper doesn't guarantee boron-rich food on the plate.

Session recorded: July 23, 2026.
